Incorporate nature into your home wall art decor with fine art photography by Lisa Blount

Incorporating Nature Into your Home with Art

The Power of Landscape Photography in Decor

Nature has the ability to calm, inspire, and refresh us. For me, nature feels like a breath of fresh air, providing a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  When I get stressed or overwhelmed with my daily schedule - I take a walk out in nature and enjoy the peace, the green grass, tall trees, and hopefully see a few animals or birds along the way.   While it’s not always possible to escape to a scenic landscape, one thing we can do is bring a piece of that tranquility into our home and offices s through landscape photography.

By incorporating nature and landscape art into your home decor you can transform your living spaces into an area that feels more serene, peaceful, and inviting.  Follow along and we’ll explore the power of landscape photography in decor, the benefits of incorporating nature into your home, and tips on selecting and displaying the perfect pieces.

The Power of Landscape Photography

Landscape photography captures the beauty and essence of nature.  From majestic mountain ranges to peaceful serene lakes to lush forests - the art pieces can evoke powerful emotions and visually transport us to places of peace and wonder. When used in home decor, landscape photography does more than just fill a wall—it creates an atmosphere that reflects the calming and restorative qualities of nature.

  1. Calm and Peaceful Atmosphere: Nature scenes, such as tranquil waters, rolling hills, or quiet woods, can evoke a sense of calm and relaxation. This makes landscape photography particularly suited for spaces where you want to unwind, like living rooms, bedrooms, and offices.  This is one reason you will see nature photography and calming colors on the walls of medical offices, dentist conference rooms and the hospital hallways.
  2. Brings the Outdoors Inside: Incorporating landscape photography into your decor is a way to bring the outdoors into your home or office. This connection to nature can improve your mood, reduce stress, and make your space feel more open and airy.
  3. Adds Depth and Perspective: Landscape photography often features wide, open spaces that add depth and perspective to a room. This can make small rooms feel larger and more expansive, creating a sense of freedom and escape within your home.
  4. Personal Connection and Inspiration: Whether it’s a favorite vacation, experience, visited spot, or a dream destination, landscape photography can be deeply personal. Displaying images of places that hold special meaning to you can inspire you daily and remind you of the beauty and adventure that awaits beyond your doorstep.

Benefits of Incorporating Nature Into Your Home Decor

Nature has long been associated with well-being, and research has shown that exposure to nature’s elements can have numerous positive effects on mental and physical health. Incorporating nature into your home decor through landscape photography offers several benefits such as…

  1. Stress Reduction: Studies have found that viewing images of nature can reduce stress and promote relaxation. The soothing colors and patterns found in landscapes can help to lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety, and create a more peaceful environment.
  2. Improved Mood: Surrounding yourself with images of nature can boost your mood and increase feelings of happiness and contentment. Nature-inspired decor can help to create a more positive and uplifting atmosphere in your home.
  3. Enhanced Creativity and Focus: Being exposed to natural scenes can enhance creativity and improve focus. This makes landscape photography an excellent addition to workspaces or creative studios, where inspiration and concentration are essential.
  4. Connection to Nature: For those who live in urban environments or have limited access to outdoor spaces, incorporating nature into your home decor can provide a much-needed connection to nature. Landscape photography allows you to enjoy the beauty of nature from the comfort of your home, fostering a sense of connection and appreciation for the environment.

Tips for Selecting Landscape Photography for Your Home

When choosing landscape photography for your home, consider the mood, color palette, and decor style.  Here are a few tips to help you think thru the process:

  1. Match the Mood: Think about the atmosphere you want to create in each room. For a calming and serene vibe, choose photos of quiet forests, still lakes, or soft sunsets. If you want to add energy and vibrancy, opt for dynamic landscapes like crashing waves, sunlit fields, or dramatic mountain peaks.
  2. Consider the Color Palette: The colors in the landscape photography should complement your existing decor. If your room features cool tones like blues and grays, look for images with similar hues, such as coastal scenes or mountain vistas. For warmer palettes, consider photos of desert landscapes, autumn forests, or golden-hour shots.  Color Palette Mood Board
  3. Size and Scale: The size of the artwork should fit the space and create the desired impact. Large, statement pieces can serve as focal points in living rooms, extra large walls, or above beds, while smaller, grouped images work well in small hallways, bathrooms, or little sitting areas. Consider the scale of the room and choose art that feels balanced and proportional.
  4. Personal Connection: Choose images that resonate with you personally. Whether it’s a place you’ve visited, a landscape that reminds you of home, or a scene that captures your love for adventure, personal connections make the art more meaningful and enjoyable.

Displaying Landscape Photography in Your Home

Once you’ve selected your landscape photography, the next step is to decide how to display it in a way that enhances your decor and maximizes its impact. Here are some ideas:

Gallery Wall

Create a gallery wall featuring a collection of landscape photos that tell a story or reflect a theme. Mix and match different sizes and orientations, or keep them uniform for a more structured look. Gallery walls work well in living rooms, staircases, or large entryways.

Statement Piece

Choose a large, impactful landscape photo to serve as the focal point of a room. Position it above a sofa, bed, or fireplace to draw the eye and anchor the space. This approach is ideal for showcasing a favorite image or a breathtaking scene.

Diptychs and Triptychs

Consider using diptychs or triptychs—sets of two or three complementary images—to create a cohesive look. These sets can depict different views of the same landscape or related scenes that flow together. This style adds a dynamic and artistic touch to your decor.

Floating Shelves

Use floating shelves to display landscape photos along with other natural elements like plants, rocks, or small sculptures. This layered approach adds depth and interest, making the display feel more curated and intentional.

Lighting

Proper lighting can enhance the impact of landscape photography, highlighting colors and details. Use spotlights, picture lights, or natural lighting to illuminate your art. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause fading over time; instead, opt for indirect or soft lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

    Final Thoughts

Incorporating landscape photography into your home decor is a powerful way to bring the calming and restorative qualities of nature into your daily life. Whether you’re drawn to the serenity of a quiet forest, the drama of a rugged coastline, or the vastness of a mountain range, landscape photography allows you to capture and enjoy these natural wonders within your own space.

Putting thought and care into selecting your art can help create a home environment that not only looks beautiful but also feels connected, peaceful,  inspiring, and refreshing.  There are so many beautiful landscapes in the world to choose from - find your favorites and let them guide you in transforming your home or office into a peaceful sanctuary that reflects your love for nature and the adventures that await.

    More about Lisa Blount Photography

    Meet the Artist: Lisa Blount

Where memories, moments, and meaning come together through the art of photography.

Lisa Blount Experience Photographer and Fine Art

Hi, I’m Lisa—photographer, storyteller, wife, mother, experience-chaser, cat-herder and lover of all things nature and travel.
I don’t just take pictures. I create visual experiences that spark connection, bring joy, and turn a house into a home.

For me, art has never just been about capturing something pretty—it’s about capturing something personal. The way the light hits a quiet mountainside, the colors swirling through lichen on a rock, the stillness of a place that made you feel something you can’t quite explain. That’s what draws me in.

Since ART is a true reflection of what the artist sees, feels, and interprets - it is therefore a reflection of ones self .... thru their ART.

    A Little Backstory

Born in California, raised in Arkansas, I’ve lived within seven miles of my grandparents’ 1936 homestead since I was ten. As an only child of

Lisa Blount artist/owner of Lisa Blount Photography - Fine Art wall decor for home or office space.

an only child, I spent a lot of time creating—scrapbooking, designing, collecting memories, and turning them into keepsakes. That early creative spark still fuels me today.

My love of photography started young (I was the kid with disposable cameras on every trip), but it really took off about 14 years ago before a family vacation to Yellowstone. I bought my first “real” camera for that trip—and that’s when everything changed. I began seeing the world differently—through textures, light, movement, and mood—and I haven’t stopped since.

    Why I Create

My art is personal, and always rooted in experience. When my boys were young, I photographed our adventures so they could relive the memories in scrapbooks. As my parents aged—especially my dad, who battled vascular dementia—I began using photography as a way to preserve his memories, too. Watching him reconnect with faces and places through photos reminded me that art is about more than beauty—it’s about meaning, memory, and the moments that matter most.

    What Makes My Art Different

Lisa Blount, Photographer, action shot in Yosemite National Park

    It’s not just a photo. It’s a feeling.

I call myself an Experience Photographer because my work goes beyond the lens. Each piece is meant to evoke emotion, spark reflection, and create a connection—whether it’s to a place you’ve been, a dream you hold, or a memory you never want to forget.

    Scale matters.

Most of my art is created large—like, several-feet-wide large—because seeing it on your wall is a completely different experience than seeing it on a screen. It’s bold. It’s immersive. It’s meant to stop you in your tracks.

    Museum-quality materials only.

I print exclusively on premium materials like TruLife Acrylic, ChromaLuxe High Gloss Metal, and Dibond Brushed Metal—each chosen for their ability to bring out color, depth, and detail in a way that feels alive. Everything is custom-crafted and digitally signed for authenticity.

    The Personal Side

    Family First. Always.

I’ve been married to my husband Jim for over 30 years, and together we’ve raised two incredible sons who (in my completely unbiased opinion) hang the moon. They’ve been a part of this journey every step of the way—as travel companions, equipment carriers, art installers, and my biggest supporters.

They’re also my why. They inspire me to keep creating, keep growing, and keep telling stories through art.

What do I love to photograph?

Honestly? Whatever catches my eye. I never force a shot—I wait for the moment to unfold. I’m especially drawn to nature, abstract patterns, textures, and color. And lichen—yes, lichen! It’s like nature’s tiny abstract painting, and I’m obsessed.

Art + Design = The Perfect Pairing

Art isn’t just for walls—it’s part of how a space feels. That’s why I’ve created mood boards that pair my artwork with color palettes, furnishings, and interior design styles. They live on my blog and are a great way to imagine how a piece might look in your space.

I also host exclusive Art, Wine & Design events in partnership with local designers. These invite-only evenings are filled with good conversation, beautiful spaces, and of course, lots of art. If you're an interior designer or art lover, let’s connect!

    Q&A:

    The Art Buying Experience

Everything you need to know before bringing a piece home.

    Q: Isn’t it just a photo?
A: It starts as a photograph—but it becomes fine art. Every piece is carefully edited, professionally printed, and crafted with premium materials that bring out color, light, texture, and depth. My art is large, bold, and designed to be a focal point in your space.

Q: What makes your work different from mass-produced prints?
A: Unlike mass-produced art, my pieces are custom-created and printed on museum-quality materials like TruLife Acrylic, ChromaLuxe Metal, and Dibond Brushed Metal. Every piece is digitally signed and made to order—bringing you a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

Q: Do you offer limited editions?
A: Yes! I offer several limited edition pieces that are signed, numbered, and exclusive—making them collectible works of art for your space.

Q: Is your art made in the USA?
A: Absolutely. Every piece is printed and assembled right here in the U.S., supporting multiple small businesses along the way.

    Customization & Sizing

Because art should fit your space—and your story.

    Q: I don’t see the size I need—can you help?
A: Definitely! Most pieces can be custom-sized to fit your wall perfectly. Just reach out with your dimensions and I’ll be happy to provide a quote.

Q: How do I choose the right size for my space?
A: A good rule of thumb: art should cover about ⅔ to ¾ of your wall space, or 60–75% of the furniture width it hangs above. You can also tape out sizes on your wall—or contact me for help. I even have a blog post all about it!

    Q: Do you offer framing?
A: Most of my art is designed to be displayed frameless with a museum-style float mount. But if you’d prefer a frame, I can custom quote one for you!

    Caring for Your Art

Beautiful and built to last—with just a little TLC.

Q: How do I clean and care for my art?
A: It depends on the material:
TruLife Acrylic: Use a microfiber cloth and acrylic-safe cleaner (no ammonia).
High Gloss Metal: A damp microfiber cloth or water/alcohol mix works great.
Dibond Brushed Metal: A dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth does the trick.
    Canvas: Dust gently; avoid moisture.

Need detailed tips? Visit my Cleaning + Care page.

Q: How is the artwork installed?
A: All of my large artwork comes ready-to-hang with a museum float mount. No frame needed. Just use a sturdy wall cleat system (instructions included). And I’m always happy to help if you have questions!

    Shipping, Returns & Gifting

Q: How long does shipping take?
A: Since each piece is custom made just for you, production takes about 14 business days, with shipping around 5–7 days depending on your location. You’ll get tracking info as soon as it ships!

    Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: At the moment, I only ship within the U.S., but if you're international, reach out—I’m happy to check options and get you a quote.

Q: What if my art arrives damaged?
A: If your piece is damaged during shipping, please contact me immediately with photos of the box and artwork. I’ll make it right and replace your piece at no cost to you.

Q: Do you offer gift certificates?
A: Yes! Gift certificates are a great way to give the gift of art—especially when you're short on time or want your recipient to choose the piece that speaks to them most.
