WORDS OF WIDSOM BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Measure Twice, Design Once: Plan thoroughly to avoid costly mistakes and re-dos.  This is a common quote, however so very very very important!
Think Big, Start Small: Break the project into manageable chunks—don’t try to do everything at once!  (Chip and Chunk!)
Color Your World: Colors are your friend.  Choose a color palette that inspires creativity and positivity.
Don’t Forget the Fun Factor: ALWAYS have FUN!!  Include elements that bring joy and comfort to the space.
Plan for the Future:  Don’t box yourself in.  Design with growth in mind—leave room for expansion and changes.
Balance Style and Function: It’s an office - it should be functional, approachable, calming and stylish.

1. What Style of Art Suits My Office Decor?

The first step in selecting art for your office is determining the style that aligns with your decor. Are you going for a modern, sleek look, or do you prefer something more traditional? Maybe your space leans towards a minimalist aesthetic, or perhaps it’s vibrant and eclectic. Fine art photography offers a versatile range of styles, from contemporary abstract pieces to serene landscapes. The key is to choose art that complements the existing design elements of your office while adding a unique touch.

For example, if your office has a modern design with clean lines and neutral colors, you might opt for black and white photography or abstract pieces that offer a subtle pop of color. On the other hand, a more traditional office setting might benefit from classic landscape photography, which adds warmth and a timeless feel.

Modern & Sleek: Opt for black and white photography or abstract art to complement clean lines and neutral tones.

Traditional: Choose classic landscape photography to add warmth and a timeless touch.

Minimalist: Simple, understated pieces in muted colors enhance a minimalist aesthetic.

Vibrant & Eclectic: Bright, colorful art with dynamic compositions can energize and personalize the space.

2. What Size of Artwork Should I Choose?

Size matters when it comes to wall art. The right size can enhance the room's aesthetics, while the wrong size can make the space feel awkward. A good rule of thumb is to consider the wall space and furniture placement. For large walls, consider larger pieces or a collection of smaller works arranged in a gallery style. For smaller walls, a single, well-proportioned piece may be more appropriate.

Fine art photography often works well in larger formats, allowing the intricate details and rich colors to shine. In an office setting, large art pieces can serve as statement pieces, drawing the eye and creating a focal point in the room. Make sure not to overwhelm the space—there should be a balance between the artwork and the rest of the room’s elements.

Things to consider:

Wall Space: Larger walls can handle big statement pieces or a gallery of art pieces.

Furniture Placement: Art should complement the furniture, not overpower it.

Proportions: Ensure the artwork is proportionate to the wall size to avoid an awkward look.  A too small piece of art is a distraction.

Focal Points: Large art pieces can create striking focal points in a room.  True statement pieces that set the tone for the office.

Balance: Avoid overwhelming the space; maintain harmony between the art and other elements in the room.  Don’t make it too busy or overcrowded.  You can have too much going on.

Choosing the right size enhances the room's aesthetics and ensures a cohesive look.

3. How Can Art Enhance My Office Environment?

Art is not just about aesthetics; it can also play a crucial role in shaping the office environment. The right piece can inspire creativity, boost productivity, and even promote relaxation. Fine art photography, with its diverse subjects and styles, offers a wide range of options to influence the mood of a space.

For instance, nature photography can introduce calming elements into a busy workspace, providing employees with a mental escape from their daily tasks. Abstract photography, on the other hand, can stimulate creativity and encourage out-of-the-box thinking. The choice of art can also reflect the company's values and culture, helping to reinforce brand identity and connect with clients and employees alike.

How Can Art Enhance My Office Environment?

Stimulates Creativity: Abstract art, with its bold forms and colors, encourages innovative thinking and fresh ideas.
Boosts Productivity: Dynamic and intriguing abstract pieces can energize employees, fostering a vibrant work atmosphere.
Promotes Relaxation: Soft, abstract designs with soothing colors can create a calming environment, reducing stress.
Reflects Company Culture: Choosing abstract art that aligns with your brand values can reinforce your company's identity.
Visual Interest: Abstract art adds visual interest and can be a great conversation starter, enhancing client interactions.

4. What Colors Work Best for Office Art?

Color psychology is a key consideration when choosing art for your office.  Colors evoke different emotions and reactions. For example, blue is often associated with calm and productivity, making it a good choice for areas where concentration is important. Green can also be soothing and is linked to feelings of balance and growth.

In fine art photography, you have the advantage of working with a wide spectrum of natural colors. A photograph of a lush forest or a serene seascape can introduce calming greens and blues, while a vibrant cityscape might bring energy and dynamism into the space. It's important to consider the existing color scheme of your office when selecting art, ensuring that the colors in the artwork complement or enhance the overall palette.

Using mood boards is a great way to gather your thoughts on the right colors for office art. Consider these points:

Blue: Evokes calm and productivity, ideal for focus areas.
Green: Symbolizes balance and growth, promoting a soothing environment.
Natural Colors: Use mood boards to explore how greens and blues from nature scenes can add tranquility.
Vibrant Colors: Test with mood boards to see how lively tones from cityscapes energize the space.
Complimenting Office Palette: Ensure artwork colors align with your existing decor to create

5. How Do I Choose Art That Reflects My Business or Personal Style?

Art is a powerful medium for expressing personality and values, whether you're decorating a personal office or a corporate space. When selecting pieces, think about what you want to convey. Do you want to create a professional and sophisticated atmosphere, or something more relaxed and creative? The art you choose should reflect your business's identity and the image you want to project.

For a corporate office, fine art photography of iconic cityscapes or architectural wonders can convey professionalism and a global outlook. For a more creative environment, consider abstract or surreal photography that sparks imagination and conversation. If your business has a strong connection to nature or sustainability, landscape photography can underscore your commitment to these values.

You may want to consider symbolism as well.  For example, if your office works closely with people and their trust, you may want to  steer away from anything with “ice” or “cold”.  They have a tendency to portray insensitivity, indifference and intolerance.   You’d want to lean towards more nature landscapes, waterfalls, scenery that are calming.

Express Identity: Select art that aligns with your business's core values and personality.
Professional Atmosphere: Opt for iconic cityscapes or architectural photography to project sophistication.
Creative Environment: Consider abstract or surreal art to inspire imagination and conversation.
Nature Connection: Use landscape photography to highlight values like sustainability or tranquility.
Symbolism Matters: Avoid cold imagery like ice if your work involves trust and empathy, choosing instead calming scenes like waterfalls or nature landscapes.

6. What Is the Best Way to Display Art in an Office Setting?

Once you've selected your art, it's important to display it effectively. Proper placement and lighting can enhance the impact of the artwork. For fine art photography, consider using spotlights to highlight the details and colors, especially if the piece has intricate textures or subtle shades. The height at which you hang the artwork is also crucial; a good rule is to place the center of the piece at eye level.

In terms of layout, consider creating a focal point with a large piece or arranging multiple smaller works in a cohesive grouping. This can create a gallery wall effect, adding visual interest and showcasing a range of works. In a larger office, you might designate specific themes or color palettes for different areas, ensuring a cohesive flow throughout the space.

More about Lisa Blount Photography

Meet the Artist: Lisa Blount

Where memories, moments, and meaning come together through the art of photography.

Lisa Blount Experience Photographer and Fine Art

Hi, I’m Lisa—photographer, storyteller, wife, mother, experience-chaser, cat-herder and lover of all things nature and travel.
I don’t just take pictures. I create visual experiences that spark connection, bring joy, and turn a house into a home.

For me, art has never just been about capturing something pretty—it’s about capturing something personal. The way the light hits a quiet mountainside, the colors swirling through lichen on a rock, the stillness of a place that made you feel something you can’t quite explain. That’s what draws me in.

Since ART is a true reflection of what the artist sees, feels, and interprets - it is therefore a reflection of ones self .... thru their ART.

A Little Backstory

Born in California, raised in Arkansas, I’ve lived within seven miles of my grandparents’ 1936 homestead since I was ten. As an only child of

Lisa Blount artist/owner of Lisa Blount Photography - Fine Art wall decor for home or office space.

an only child, I spent a lot of time creating—scrapbooking, designing, collecting memories, and turning them into keepsakes. That early creative spark still fuels me today.

My love of photography started young (I was the kid with disposable cameras on every trip), but it really took off about 14 years ago before a family vacation to Yellowstone. I bought my first “real” camera for that trip—and that’s when everything changed. I began seeing the world differently—through textures, light, movement, and mood—and I haven’t stopped since.

Why I Create

My art is personal, and always rooted in experience. When my boys were young, I photographed our adventures so they could relive the memories in scrapbooks. As my parents aged—especially my dad, who battled vascular dementia—I began using photography as a way to preserve his memories, too. Watching him reconnect with faces and places through photos reminded me that art is about more than beauty—it’s about meaning, memory, and the moments that matter most.

What Makes My Art Different

Lisa Blount, Photographer, action shot in Yosemite National Park

It’s not just a photo. It’s a feeling.

I call myself an Experience Photographer because my work goes beyond the lens. Each piece is meant to evoke emotion, spark reflection, and create a connection—whether it’s to a place you’ve been, a dream you hold, or a memory you never want to forget.

Scale matters.

Most of my art is created large—like, several-feet-wide large—because seeing it on your wall is a completely different experience than seeing it on a screen. It’s bold. It’s immersive. It’s meant to stop you in your tracks.

Museum-quality materials only.

I print exclusively on premium materials like TruLife Acrylic, ChromaLuxe High Gloss Metal, and Dibond Brushed Metal—each chosen for their ability to bring out color, depth, and detail in a way that feels alive. Everything is custom-crafted and digitally signed for authenticity.

The Personal Side

Family First. Always.

I’ve been married to my husband Jim for over 30 years, and together we’ve raised two incredible sons who (in my completely unbiased opinion) hang the moon. They’ve been a part of this journey every step of the way—as travel companions, equipment carriers, art installers, and my biggest supporters.

They’re also my why. They inspire me to keep creating, keep growing, and keep telling stories through art.

We love to… Travel, Laugh, do Escape Rooms and Call the Hogs!

GO HOGS!Top of the Rotunda in the US Capitol Building in Washington DCSchilthorn, Interlaken, Switzerland - cold summer day!

What do I love to photograph?

Honestly? Whatever catches my eye. I never force a shot—I wait for the moment to unfold. I’m especially drawn to nature, abstract patterns, textures, and color. And lichen—yes, lichen! It’s like nature’s tiny abstract painting, and I’m obsessed.

Art + Design = The Perfect Pairing

Art isn’t just for walls—it’s part of how a space feels. That’s why I’ve created mood boards that pair my artwork with color palettes, furnishings, and interior design styles. They live on my blog and are a great way to imagine how a piece might look in your space.

I also host exclusive Art, Wine & Design events in partnership with local designers. These invite-only evenings are filled with good conversation, beautiful spaces, and of course, lots of art. If you're an interior designer or art lover, let’s connect!

Everything you need to know before bringing a piece home.

A: Absolutely. Every piece is printed and assembled right here in the U.S., supporting multiple small businesses along the way.

Customization & Sizing

Because art should fit your space—and your story.

Q: I don’t see the size I need—can you help?
A: Definitely! Most pieces can be custom-sized to fit your wall perfectly. Just reach out with your dimensions and I’ll be happy to provide a quote.

Q: How do I choose the right size for my space?
A: A good rule of thumb: art should cover about ⅔ to ¾ of your wall space, or 60–75% of the furniture width it hangs above. You can also tape out sizes on your wall—or contact me for help. I even have a blog post all about it!

Q: Do you offer framing?
A: Most of my art is designed to be displayed frameless with a museum-style float mount. But if you’d prefer a frame, I can custom quote one for you!

Caring for Your Art

Beautiful and built to last—with just a little TLC.

Q: How do I clean and care for my art?
A: It depends on the material:
TruLife Acrylic: Use a microfiber cloth and acrylic-safe cleaner (no ammonia).
High Gloss Metal: A damp microfiber cloth or water/alcohol mix works great.
Dibond Brushed Metal: A dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth does the trick.
Canvas: Dust gently; avoid moisture.

Need detailed tips? Visit my Cleaning + Care page.

Q: How is the artwork installed?
A: All of my large artwork comes ready-to-hang with a museum float mount. No frame needed. Just use a sturdy wall cleat system (instructions included). And I’m always happy to help if you have questions!
