What is a Color Palette

First things first …. What exactly is a color palette?

A color palette is a curated collection of colors that work together harmoniously, often used to create a specific mood, style, or visual effect in design and decor. In the context of art and home decor, color palettes are essential for establishing a cohesive look that enhances the overall ambiance of a space. They help guide design choices, ensuring that every element—from wall art to furnishings—works seamlessly together.

One of the main purposes of a color palette is to create unity and balance in a room, making the space feel well-thought-out and inviting. Color palettes also evoke emotions; for instance, cool blues and greens can create a calming atmosphere, while warm oranges and reds evoke energy and warmth. Additionally, using a color palette helps streamline the decorating process by serving as a visual guide, making it easier to select complementary pieces, like art and accessories, that match and enhance the chosen theme. My mood boards, for example, are centered around art pieces, showcasing how colors from the art can be reflected throughout a space to create a unified and stylish look.

So simply put …. It helps you keep everything kinda matchy-matchy, blending and pleasing to the eye.

Now … onto the FUN STUFF!

The Power of Green in Home Decor

Green is a versatile color that brings a sense of tranquility, balance, and renewal. It's no wonder that incorporating green into your home decor can have such a positive impact on your mood and well-being. Here are a few reasons why green is a fantastic choice for your home:

Nature's Neutral Color -  Green is often considered a neutral because it pairs well with a wide range of colors. Whether you prefer bold, bright hues or more subdued, earthy tones, green can complement and enhance your decor.
Calming and Invigorating - Green has a dual nature—it can be both calming and invigorating. Soft, muted greens create a serene environment, while brighter greens can energize and uplift a space.
Versatility - From olive to emerald, sage to mint, there are countless shades of green to explore. Each shade brings its unique vibe, allowing you to tailor the mood of your room to your liking.

The Star of the Show: Color of Banana Leaves

Lisa Blount's Color of Banana Leaves is an abstract nature decor piece that features the lush green hues of St. Lucia. This art captures the beauty of banana leaves with their curvy geometric patterns and vibrant colors. The artwork not only serves as a focal point but also as a color inspiration for your decor.

The art piece showcases the intricate details of banana leaves, with a striking combination of green hues and orange veins. The geometric patterns bring a contemporary feel, making it a perfect addition to modern and traditional spaces alike.

Creating a Green Oasis: Tips for Incorporating Green in Your Decor

Start with the Walls: Painting your walls in a shade of green can transform the entire room. For a more subtle look, go for muted tones like sage or olive. If you're feeling bold, a vibrant emerald or lime green can make a stunning statement.

Green Accents: If painting your walls green feels too adventurous, consider adding green accents instead. Throw pillows, rugs, and curtains in various shades of green can add depth and interest to your space without overwhelming it.  Accents can also come in the form of 7x5 Acrylic Blocks.

Nature-Inspired Textures: Incorporate natural textures like wood, jute, and bamboo to complement your green color palette. These materials add warmth and a touch of the outdoors, enhancing the overall theme.

Plants, Plants, Plants: Nothing brings green into a space like actual greenery. Houseplants are a fantastic way to introduce different shades of green and add life to your decor. Plus, they have the added benefit of purifying the air.

Large Artwork as a Focal Point: Use Color of Banana Leaves as a centerpiece in your room. Its vibrant greens and intricate patterns can set the tone for the rest of your decor. Place it in a spot where it can be admired and appreciated, such as above a sofa, fireplace, or in an entryway.

Art that Speaks to Your Life Experiences

When selecting art for your home, it's important to choose pieces that resonate with you personally. Art is more than just decoration; it's a reflection of your experiences, memories, and emotions. Here's why selecting meaningful art is so important:

Personal Connection: Art that speaks to your life experiences creates a deeper connection to your space. It transforms your home into a personal sanctuary filled with pieces that tell your story.
Emotional Impact: Meaningful art can evoke powerful emotions and memories, providing comfort, inspiration, and joy. Each time you look at the piece, it can transport you back to a significant moment or place in your life.
Unique Expression: Your choice of art is a unique expression of who you are. It showcases your tastes, interests, and personality, making your home truly one-of-a-kind.

Since ART is a true reflection of what the artist sees, feels, and interprets - it is therefore a reflection of ones self .... thru their ART.

Read more to find out who I am as an artist, why I create, and what makes my work unique. My goal isn’t just to sell art—it’s to create connections through experiences, memories, and storytelling.

Lisa Blount fine art photographerBorn in California and raised in Arkansas, Lisa has lived within seven miles of her grandparents’ 1936 homesteadsince she was ten years old. As an only child of an only child, she spent countless hours fueling her creativity—crafting, designing, and refining ideas.   While Arkansas has changed over the years, Lisa remains drawn to life’s simple yet beautiful moments, finding inspiration in nature, landscapes, and the great outdoors.

Lisa’s passion for travel and photography comes to life in her artwork, where she transforms memories and experiences into fine art for others to enjoy. Whether capturing the serene beauty of a distant landscape or the colors of an unforgettable journey, she seeks to preserve the essence of a moment through her work.

Married to her husband Jim for over 30 years, Lisa is also a proud mom to two incredible boys—who, in her opinion, hang the moon. They play many roles in her artistic journey—sometimes as the subjects, the equipment carriers, the art installers, the travel companions, and always as the inspiration behind her creativity. Above all, they are the reason she continues pushing forward to create, capture, and share beauty with the world.

Q: What is your favorite past-time or hobby?

A: Of course, photography is my passion—but it's more than just taking pictures. I’ve spent years capturing moments, creating digital photo books, scrapbooking, and making collages. I love the creative process behind photography just as much as I love the photos themselves.

Q: How did you first get into photography?

A: I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t taking pictures! As a kid, I always stocked up on film or disposable cameras before school trips and vacations. About 14 years ago, before a family trip to Yellowstone, I invested in my first “real” camera because I wanted to capture the wildlife. That trip sparked my journey into fine art photography, and I haven’t stopped capturing experiences since.

Q: What type of photographer are you?

A: I consider myself an Experience Photographer—a term I explain in detail in my blog! My art isn’t just about taking pictures; it’s about capturing moments, emotions, and memories that connect with people on a deeper level.

Q: What is your favorite thing to photograph?

A: Whatever catches my eye at the moment! I don’t force a shot—I wait for the right moment to unfold naturally. I’m drawn to nature, abstract textures, and landscapes, but one of my favorite subjects is lichen. The intricate details, colors, and patterns in lichen are like miniature abstract paintings in nature!

Q: How does your art relate to your life story?

A: My art has always been about capturing experiences. When my kids were little, I took photos to document our travels so they could relive the memories through scrapbooks. Over time, I realized those captured moments weren’t just for them—they were for me, too.

Even my home wall tells of my experiences - Wall gallery using large pieces of acrylic art -Lisa Blount photography

Later, as my parents aged, I saw firsthand how photography could be a powerful tool for memory. My father had vascular dementia, and I used my photos to help him recall faces, places, and his life story. Watching him flip through those pictures, trying to piece together memories, was when I truly realized the impact of art—it’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about pausing, reflecting, and remembering.  Life is short - enjoy the moment and remember the happiness.  That’s when Lisa Blount Photography took on a deeper purpose.

Q: What makes your art different?

A: Two things: experience and scale.

  1. My art isn’t just a picture—it’s an experience. Each piece is meant to evoke a memory, spark a feeling, or remind you of a journey, a place, or a time in your life.
  2. I offer extra-large, statement-sized art. Seeing a photograph in a tiny viewfinder is one thing, but seeing it printed several feet wide on a wall is an entirely different experience!

Q: Isn’t it just a photo?

A: Yes… and no! It starts as a photograph, but the process I use turns it into fine art. I print only on premium materials like TruLife Acrylic, Chromaluxe High Gloss Metal, and Dibond Brushed Metal—each chosen for its ability to bring out depth, color, and detail. My pieces are large, bold, and conversation starters—so much more than just a simple photo.

Q: Why do you select those specific print mediums?

A: I want my art to be the highest quality possible, and these mediums allow the colors to pop, the details to shine, and the image to feel immersive. Plus, they are ready-to-hang with no need for framing. If you’re going to invest in fine art, it should be something you’re proud to display for years to come.

I spent several years researching, testing, and refining print mediums, products, and vendors to ensure I offer only the best. As technology evolves, I continually evaluate new materials, ensuring they meet or exceed my high standards, so you always receive the finest quality available.

Q: Is your art signed?

A: Yes! All of my art is digitally signed before printing, ensuring authenticity and a personal touch.

Q: Do you offer limited edition pieces?

A: Absolutely! I have several limited edition pieces that are digitally signed and numbered, making them exclusive collector’s items.

Q: I can't envision art in a room—do you have any suggestions?

A: Absolutely! As an artist, I believe art should be the focal point of a space, drawing the eye and setting the tone for the entire room. To help with that, I’ve created mood boards that pair my artwork with furniture, color palettes, and design styles. These can be found in my blog: ART with Mood Boards.

Many people have told me they love seeing how art can transform a space, and they look forward to each new mood board I create. It’s a great way to visualize how a piece will look in your home or office before making a decision!

But I get it—sometimes you want to see the art in person before making a decision. That’s why I have a gallery at a local business in Springdale, Arkansas, where several select pieces are on display. Some are available for sale on-site, while others can be ordered and shipped directly to your home or office. If you'd like to visit, just contact me for an appointment, and I’ll be happy to walk you through the collection.

Also,  I partner with a Interior Design Firms to host "Art, Wine & Design"—a special evening where you can meet both designers and the artist (me!). It’s an exciting event with a great atmosphere, and I always bring a selection of new art pieces, as well as smaller take-home items like acrylic blocks, greeting cards, coasters, and magnets.

Q: Where in the U.S. do you have art?

A: My art has found homes across the United States, with customers from coast to coast purchasing pieces for their homes and offices.

I’m also deeply honored to have two of my pieces displayed in the budget room of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. This was a completely unexpected request, and I’m incredibly grateful that my work represents Northwest Arkansas in such a historic space.  The art now hangs in the Congressman's office.  university arkansas old main tower art by Lisa Blount

All purchases, however, are made exclusively through my website at www.lisablountphotography.com or by contacting me directly.

Q: Is your art made in the USA?

A: Yes! I’m proud to say that all of my art is printed and assembled in the USA. When you purchase from me, you’re supporting at least two small businesses right here in the U.S.

Q: I need a specific size, but I don’t see it listed.

A: Great question! Most of my prints can be custom-sized to fit your specific space. Just reach out, and I’ll be happy to provide a custom quote.

One of the things I love most about my work is the ability to offer flexibility in sizing. Unlike mass-produced retail prints, I consider myself a boutique artist, focusing on personalized selections for my customers. I understand that not all art fits in every space—and it shouldn’t. Your art should be as unique as you and your home.

Let me know what you need, and I’ll do my best to make it work! You can contact me directly through my website or you can  Email me.

Q: How do I know which size art is right for my space?

A: Choosing the right size for your art is important! A general rule is that artwork should fill two-thirds to three-quarters of your wall space or be about 60-75% of the width of your furniture (like a couch or bed). If you’re unsure, I recommend using painter’s tape to map out different sizes on your wall or reaching out—I’m happy to provide guidance!   .... I have a BLOG on that!

Q: What makes your art different from mass-produced prints?

A: Great question!!  Unlike mass-produced prints, my work is artist-selected, professionally printed, and available in custom sizes. Each piece is crafted using premium, archive-rated, museum-quality materials like TruLife Acrylic, Chromaluxe High Gloss Metal, and Dibond Brushed Metal, offering superior durability, clarity, and depth. Plus, every piece is digitally signed, ensuring authenticity.

Q: Do you offer framing options?

A: Most of my pieces are designed to be frameless, with museum-mounted floating backs that allow them to stand out without needing a traditional frame. However, if you prefer a framed look, let me know—I can custom quote frames for your selected art piece!

Q: How is the artwork installed?

A: My TruLife Acrylic, Metal, and Dibond prints come with a museum float mount, which means they hang effortlessly on your wall without additional framing. Each piece comes ready to install—simply use a sturdy cleat system depending on the weight of the piece. Instructions are included, but if you have any questions, I’m happy to help!

Q: How do I clean and care for my art?

A: Here's the short story...  Different materials require different care:
TruLife Acrylic: Use a microfiber cloth and acrylic-safe cleaner (avoid ammonia-based products).
High Gloss Metal: Wipe with a damp microfiber cloth or a mix of water and isopropyl alcohol.
Dibond Brushed Metal: Use a dry microfiber cloth or slightly damp cloth for fingerprints.
Canvas Prints: Dust gently with a soft cloth or brush; avoid excessive moisture.

The longer story can be found on my cleaning tips page!

Q: How long does shipping take?

A: Since each piece is custom made just for you, standard production time is approximately 14 business days. Shipping times vary based on your location and I usually estimately 7 business days, but you’ll receive tracking information once your order has shipped. If you need a rush order, let me know—I’ll see what’s possible!

Q: Do you ship internationally?

A: At this time, I primarily ship within the United States, but if you’re interested in international shipping, please contact me, and I’ll see what options are available and can get you a quote.

Q: What is your return or exchange policy?

A: Because each piece is custom made just for you, all sales are final. However, if your art arrives damaged, please contact me immediately with photos, and I’ll work quickly to resolve the issue.   Damaged art will be replaced at no cost to you - as long as pictures of the damaged box and art are provided.

Q: Do you offer gift certificates?

A: Yes! If you’re looking for the perfect gift but aren’t sure which piece to choose, I offer gift certificates so your recipient can pick the art that speaks to them.   PLUS - it's a great last minute idea when your gift giving time is shorter than shipping.
